FAQs

  • Please refer to the application dates for our Master’s degree programmes. We strongly recommend you to start collecting the required documents, including the language certificate and possibly the GRE Test, at an early stage. Incomplete applications cannot be processed and it is not possible to submit your application after the deadline expires.

  • Inform yourself in advance about the admission prerequisites for your desired Master’s degree programme and the documents required for your online application: Do you satisfy the profile of requirements and other admission prerequisites? Can you produce the required language certificates? What application documents do you need for your desired programme? If you have not yet completed your Bachelor’s degree at the time of application, ensure that you will receive the degree certificate at the latest by the time lectures begin at ETH Zurich.

  • We charge an application fee of CHF 150 per degree programme applied for. Please understand that this fee is not refundable. This fee must be paid by credit card (Visa or MasterCard) or PostFinance card when you submit your online application. It is possible that payments via credit cards from certain countries will not be accepted by the bank on security grounds. Before you apply, ask your bank about the status of international transactions. Applications may only be submitted online after the respective fees have been paid.

  • Collect all of the required documents early on. This applies particularly to official documents from the university or universities where you have studied. You will require: Official transcripts / academic records from every university attended, including any mobility or exchange programmes and study programmes which were not completed; double-degree programmes require transcripts from both universities A valid language certificate Additional documents such as a CV, a portfolio, a letter of motivation, a letter of recommendation, possibly a GRE test; these depend on the desired degree programme For further information on the documents required by your desired Master’s degree programme, and the format in which they should be uploaded, see here. Documents (e.g. certificates and transcripts) must be submitted in the original language in which they were originally issued. For each document that is not issued in German, English, French or Italian, an official translation or, if issued by the university, an English version must also be submitted.
