Repeatedly ranked among the best of its kind in the world, FIU’s Master of Science in Finance program boasts an in-depth curriculum enabling you to apply financial strategy to challenging, real-world business decisions.
As a University Affiliation Program with the CFA Institute, this program offers excellent preparation for Level I of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exam and readies you for a wide spectrum of higher-level financial roles. The specialty areas available for finance professionals are limitless, including corporate finance, investment advisory services, fund management, mergers and acquisitions, international finance, commercial and investment banking, FinTech, and more.
Program Highlights
- Acquire a strong base of knowledge in finance covering financial theory, strategy, methodologies, analysis, and practices
- Use the latest technology and financial software to conduct financial analyses, valuation analyses, derivative pricing and risk management, securities trading portfolio management, bank management, and merger analysis.
- Cohort based, lock-step structure. You'll begin the program at the same time as your peers and progress through the curriculum together.
- Finance workshops before starting the program that aid in refreshing financial skills.
- Dedicated career services team that offers career planning and interview coaching
- Students will become Bloomberg Certified and familiarize themselves with finding data and market information using Bloomberg. MSF students will have access to Bloomberg terminals and the Bloomberg Lab.
Our Master of Science in Finance’s 36-credit, 12 class, curriculum covers established and emerging concepts, practices, and technology in the financial industry, with a focus on preparing you for your choice of specialization within the field.
Classes are taken two at a time in 8-week terms. Core courses are taken at the location chosen to study based on specialization and start term.

The Master of Science in Finance (MSF) program was established in the year 2000, and for nearly the past 20 years, the program has been dedicated to establishing leading professionals for the industry.
This scholarship was designed to reward individuals who have shown exemplary academic and work achievements.
To be eligible for the scholarship:
- Individual must have been recently admitted into the program and not enrolled in classes.
- Neither applicants nor current, enrolled, students are eligible for this scholarship.
Must meet one of the following requirements:
- Minimum upper-division GPA of 3.25 and a GMAT score of 600, or
- Minimum upper-division GPA of 3.25 and a GRE score of 158 on the quantitative section and 160 on the verbal section, or
- Finance undergraduate degree with a 3.5 upper-division GPA with proof of community service, internship, or extra-curricular involvement, or
- Eight years of financial related work experience with a minimum GPA of 3.25 upper-division coursework, or
- Previously earned a master’s degree with a 3.5 GPA, alongside a 3.25 upper-division GPA in undergraduate coursework
