To be considered for the MS in Data Science program, you must have completed an undergraduate degree in mathematics, computer science, or related discipline, from an accredited institution.

The following prerequisites are required, though conditional admission may be offered:

• Programming Requirements
• Programming Principles and Techniques
• Algorithms and Data Structures
• Calculus Requirements
• Calculus I
• Calculus II

Admission Requirements

1. Completion of a bachelor's degree in mathematics, computer science, or a related discipline from an accredited institution with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
2. For non-native speakers of English, a TOEFL may be required unless waived by the program director or the Office of Graduate Admission, after having received evidence of English-language proficiency.
3. Submission of GRE or GMAT scores is optional.

Note: All applications for admission are considered on the basis of their own merits, with weight given to the strength of a student's previous academic performance, scores obtained on the GRE/GMAT, professional experiences indicating increasing levels of responsibility, and any other pertinent information which the candidate for admission may provide to the Committee on Admissions.

Hofstra offers generous merit scholarships to international students automatically upon acceptance. You will be able to find your merit scholarship award on your acceptance letter if you have qualified. Please note that international merit scholarship awards differ from domestic.

• Award Range: $27,000–28,000 per year

Please note, Hofstra does not offer full ride scholarship opportunities to international students. The amount of scholarship offered to international students is subject to the final decision by the Committee based on a holistic review of the application.
