To be admitted to the Mechanical Engineering program, students must have a strong academic record in high school. Applicants must have completed a minimum of 15 units of college-preparatory mathematics, including Algebra I, Algebra II, Trigonometry, and Precalculus. Applicants must also have completed a minimum of 15 units of college-preparatory science, including Chemistry, Physics, and Biology. In addition, applicants must have a minimum SAT score of 1100 or a minimum ACT score of 22. Applicants are also encouraged to have taken the SAT Subject Test in Math II and the ACT Subject Test in Physics. The Mechanical Engineering program is highly competitive, and admission is based on a combination of academic achievement, extracurricular activities, and letters of recommendation.
