  No, you do not need to find a supervisor in advance, and we do not expect you to have a research proposal in advance. However, in your statement of purpose, you can describe your study-area(s) of interest and potential supervisors. Candidates may approach potential supervisors through the contact form available on the Faculty section of the Nova SBE website.

• Is there an age limit?

  

  No, there is no age limit. Your application will be evaluated based on your application documentation.

• Can I apply to the PhD program even though I did not yet finish my graduate studies?

  

  Yes, you are welcome to apply even if you have not finished your graduate studies yet. However, if you expect to have defended your thesis before the start of the program (usually September 1st), your application can also be considered. You will need to provide the final diploma or certificate before the beginning of classes.

• Who can apply to a Nova SBE PhD program?

  

  PhD in Economics and Finance Applicants should hold a Master’s degree diploma in Economics, Finance, or other related fields. If you don’t have a Master’s degree but expect to have defended your thesis before the start of the program (usually September 1st), your application can also be considered.
