FAQs

  • We don’t have a “2 year program.” You either sign up for and follow our one-year M.S. program track or continue, working with an individual adviser, for as long as it will take you (up to six years) to complete M.S. requirements (supporting yourself financially in the process, of course).

  • We introduced this program in response to the requests coming from our M.S. students in the past. From the student’s perspective benefits are multi-fold: (i) it is easier and much less expensive to arrange lodging in the State College area for 1 academic year as compared to e.g 1.5 academic years, (ii) while student’s financial obligations toward Penn State do not depend on the duration of the program (tuition paid is based on the number of credits registered which is the same in all our M.S. program tracks) the living expenses, health insurance cost, etc. are significantly reduced when program is completed in one academic year, (iii) domestic graduates are available for employment and compensation at the M.S. level at least six months earlier accomplishing significant financial gains in the process, (iv) international students, F-1 visa holders, interested in pursuing the Optional Practical Training (OPT) in the U.S. are eligible after one year of the graduate studies in the U.S.

  • There is no difference other than the time, the one-year M.S. program being of 12 months duration (Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters) vs. at least 18 months. This is made possible because we are offering summer courses, specifically for those in the one-year program. Due to this organizational effort, three semesters of the M.S. program can be completed during a single academic year (Fall, Spring, Summer semesters) as opposed to at least 1.5 academic year (Fall, Spring, and Fall semester during the next academic year).

  • You will receive a confirmation by email within 72 hours after submitting your electronic application.
