Application Requirements

The University of Chicago requires that all applicants to the Master of Arts in Cinema program have a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Applicants must also submit a personal statement, a resume, and two letters of recommendation. The personal statement should be no more than 500 words and should discuss the applicant's interest in cinema and their goals for the program. The resume should list the applicant's academic and professional experience, and the letters of recommendation should be from individuals who can speak to the applicant's character and qualifications. In addition, applicants must submit a portfolio of their work, which can include films, scripts, photographs, or other creative projects. The portfolio should be no more than 20 minutes long and should showcase the applicant's skills and abilities in cinema. The University of Chicago also requires that all applicants have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Applicants who do not meet the minimum GPA may be considered for admission on a case-by-case basis.
