Application Requirements

The University of Chicago requires that all applicants to the Master of Arts in Sociology program have a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Applicants must also submit a statement of purpose, two letters of recommendation, and a resume. The statement of purpose should be no more than two pages and should discuss the applicant's interest in sociology, their research interests, and their goals for the program. The letters of recommendation should be from professors or other professionals who can speak to the applicant's academic ability and potential for success in the program. The resume should list the applicant's educational background, work experience, and any other relevant information. Applicants who are not native English speakers must also submit a TOEFL or IELTS score of 79 or higher. The application deadline is January 15 for fall admission.
