Application Requirements

To be eligible for admission to the MA in English program, applicants must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Applicants must also submit a statement of purpose, a writing sample, and three letters of recommendation. The statement of purpose should be no more than two pages and should discuss the applicant's interest in the MA in English program, their goals for the program, and their reasons for choosing the University of Toledo. The writing sample should be no more than five pages and should demonstrate the applicant's ability to write effectively. The letters of recommendation should be from professors or other professionals who can attest to the applicant's academic ability and potential for success in the MA in English program. Applicants who do not meet the minimum GPA requirement may be considered for admission on a case-by-case basis.
