Application Requirements

Applicants must have a good honours degree (2:1 or above) in a relevant subject. Applicants from non-law backgrounds may be considered, but they will need to demonstrate a strong interest in law and the ability to succeed at postgraduate level. The University of Birmingham also offers a one-year postgraduate diploma in law, which is designed for students who do not have a law degree but who want to pursue a career in law. The diploma is equivalent to the first year of a master's degree in law, and successful completion of the diploma will allow students to progress to the second year of a master's degree in law at the University of Birmingham.
