FAQs

  • The courses offered by our School of Information and Computer Science is limited through this program. ICS is a separate school, and we (Engineering) cannot guarantee courses from ICS. If you are a CSE major, and still want to attend our program, you can only take courses under Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) of School of Engineering. However, you will have the option to apply to ICS for your graduate program.

  • While it's impossible to give an exact number, you might be looking at an acceptance rate in the low 20s or even mid to high teens for the Computer Science major at UC Irvine. Don't get discouraged by that increased selectivity, though!

  • We welcome students who are passionate about learning and discovery. Each year nearly 1,000 international graduate students from over 65 different countries are enrolled at UC Irvine.

  • It will depend on your spending habits. However, on average, students will spend about $1200 – $1500 a month, based on a shared room situation. If you learn how to cook and make meals yourselves, you will save a lot of money. 🙂
