UKRI are providing limited funds for support with open access charges for in-scope publications that comply with their open access policy. Funds will be made available via the library’s open access team.
Every project within the centre is offered in collaboration with an external partner who, as well as providing co-supervision will also offer the unique opportunity for students to be embedded within the organisation, accessing large amounts of complex data to work on developing non-trivial solutions to complex, real world problems. A large number of events and training sessions are undertaken as a cohort of PhD students, allowing you to build personal and professional relationships that we hope will lead to research collaboration either now or in your future. Graduates from this CDT will have the essential skills needed to become future leaders in data science, be it in academia, government or industry.

There is a central fund held by UKRI that research organisations must apply for. UKRI have implemented the following financial support: Book Processing Charges (BPCs) up to £10,000 Chapter Processing Charges up to £1,000 Diamond/non-BPC open access models up to £6,000 for the first output These funding limits are inclusive of VAT, where applicable. The funding may be used to pay for charges incurred when making publications fully open access. They are not intended to be used to support other publishing costs.
