FAQs

  • Applying is the first step in your journey to university study here at the University of South Australia. You first need to apply and be assessed for entry into your desired degree. If your application for entry is successful and you receive an offer, you then accept and enrol into the courses for your degree. You will be sent details on how to do this once you have accepted your offer.

  • Full-time students will typically complete 36 units in a calendar year (18 units per Study Period).

  • A postgraduate degree is one that you may study upon completion of an undergraduate degree, or, in special circumstances, significant industry experience. There are two types of postgraduate study; coursework or research. Postgraduate study by coursework typically has different levels, such as: Graduate Certificate Graduate Diploma Master Some degrees are only offered at Master level, whilst others may offer a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma, depending on industry accreditation requirements, employment standards, or entry requirements. If you commence in a Graduate Certificate you may progress to a Graduate Diploma or Master upon successful completion, and you may gain credit for your study. You may also commence in a Master degree and if available, exit with a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma upon completion of the required courses. This is known as nested study. We also offer postgraduate research degrees, allowing you to become an expert in an area that interests you under the supervision of world-class researchers. You can choose to undertake a Masters by Research, PhD or Professional Doctorate at UniSA. Visit our Research Degrees page for more information.

  • Yes. Email is the University's preferred method of communicating with students. Email will be sent to your student account, not your home or work email, though you can arrange to redirect messages to these accounts for convenience, see how. You will also need to keep your email up to date by regularly deleting unwanted items (including emptying your deleted items folder), to ensure you have enough free storage space. Lecturers will have problems contacting you if your email account is full.
