FAQs
Your admission to the University cannot be guaranteed, nor can the evaluation of your transcripts necessarily be done before classes begin.
You should see if your Graduate Advisor will support a petition for a one-semester exception to policy, to allow you to hold a position as a GTA or GRA. The final decision about such petitions is made by the academic dean of the college for your degree program. Petitions must be supported by a plan to raise your GPA until you are in good academic standing. In rare cases, the dean may approve a second semester exception.
Both international and U.S. students are eligible for tuition support on the same basis.
U.S. Citizens, Permanent Residents, and Eligible Aliens (includes certain visas and certain undocumented Texas high school graduates) are eligible to establish Texas residency for tuition purposes.
