Application Requirements

To be eligible for admission to the MA in English and American Literature program, applicants must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Applicants must also submit a statement of purpose, a writing sample, and three letters of recommendation. The statement of purpose should be no more than two pages and should discuss the applicant's interest in the program, their academic goals, and their plans for after graduation. The writing sample should be a sample of the applicant's writing that demonstrates their ability to think critically and to communicate effectively. The letters of recommendation should be from professors or other professionals who can attest to the applicant's academic ability and potential for success in the program. Applicants who are admitted to the program will be required to take a placement exam in English.
