Application Requirements

The University of Western Ontario requires that all applicants to the Philosophy program have a strong academic record in high school. Applicants must have completed a minimum of four years of English, three years of mathematics, and two years of science. In addition, applicants must have a minimum grade of 70% in each of these subjects. Applicants are also required to submit a personal statement and a letter of reference from a teacher or guidance counsellor. The University of Western Ontario also offers a Philosophy Foundations Program for students who do not meet the minimum academic requirements. This program provides students with the opportunity to take introductory courses in philosophy and to improve their academic skills. Students who successfully complete the Philosophy Foundations Program are eligible to apply to the regular Philosophy program.
