PhD in Circular Economy

Faculty of Engineering and Science, Department of Materials and Production, Aalborg University. PhD stipend available within the doctoral programme Materials Science, Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering. The PhD position is within the Sustainable Manufacturing Systems (SUSTAIN) group. The focus of the PhD project is the implementation of circular economy in manufacturing companies, considering circularity assessment, and the interrelations to environmental impact, products, business models, and supply chains./nThe aim of the PhD project is to analyze challenges in industry in relation to the development and implementation of circular manufacturing, and identify and develop methods, models and tools that can be applied to accelerate the transition towards circular manufacturing in industry, with a particular focus on identifying, analyzing, and assessing circularity options through circularity assessment practices, taking into account a company’s current products and manufacturing capabilities and capacities./nThe PhD position includes in-depth case studies with various types of data collection in a range of manufacturing companies and requires working with various types of quantitative and qualitative research methods.
