PhD in Full-Stack

AI:X is an ambitious initiative at Aalborg University that aims to advance AI research and create real-world impact through interdisciplinary collaboration, and five labs will be initiated in 2025 with a total of 20 PhD stipends. The AI-Xpertise Lab is a part of the AI:X initiative with four PhD stipends and is a collaboration between the Department of Architecture, Design and Media Technology, The Technical Faculty of IT and Design, and the Department of Politics and Society, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities./nStipend 1 is open for appointment from 1st of March 2026 (or soon thereafter)./nThis stipend revolves around building and deploying AI in healthcare. The main case will be automation of anesthetic pre-screenings. Potential auxiliary cases include evaluation of laparoscopic surgery and AI assistance for spinal surgery./nCandidates for this stipend should have a background in software engineering or similar and have substantial experience with machine learning. All cases involve various degrees of image analysis, so computer vision experience is a requirement. Experience with large language models is a plus. You should not only be able to create and evaluate models, you must also be able to build a user interface and deploy your systems. You must also be interested in collaborating with organizational researchers given the interdisciplinary character of AI:Xpertise.
