- Entry points are usually in October and January. Application deadlines vary depending on funding opportunities, with major studentship deadlines generally between January and March for entry the following academic year.
- Applicants are normally expected to hold a Master’s degree in English, Humanities, or a related discipline. Strong academic performance and a well-developed research proposal are required. Candidates with exceptional undergraduate achievement may be admitted to an MPhil with the possibility of upgrading to PhD.

- The PhD usually takes 3–4 years full-time or 5–7 years part-time. The MPhil typically takes 1–2 years full-time or 2–4 years part-time.
