Applicants must hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree from a research-oriented university in a relevant/related field (PhD students expected to have an excellent MSc degree), have an outstanding academic record (at or near the top of their class), be proficient in spoken and written English (German not required), and supply strong academic references. Individual research groups may have additional or rolling application timelines.

No tuition fees for PhD students; doctoral researchers are employed full-time and paid according to TVöD (up to E13 level), with salaries starting around EUR 4,000 gross/month (approx. EUR 48,000 per year). Additional benefits include health insurance, paid leave, and pension scheme. A student contribution fee of EUR 361.90 is mentioned.
