This PhD position at TU Delft (Delft University of Technology), embedded in the Hydraulic Engineering department within the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences, focuses on developing methods to account for physical port constraints, dredging operations, and port call processes under uncertainty to improve port call efficiency and reduce emissions. /nThe research is part of the PortCall.Zero project and involves developing and extending OpenCLSim (an open-source Python-based discrete-event simulation framework), designing integrated optimization and prediction modules for strategic and operational decision-making, and validating methods with realistic use cases involving water depth variation. /nCollaboration with academic and industry partners is expected, including Van Oord and potentially the Researchlab Autonomous Shipping (RAS) Lab at TU Delft, with prospects for field demonstration with partners in the Port of Rotterdam area. /nLocation: Delft, Netherlands.
