Start Date: October 2026/n Project on the role of turbulence intermittency in cloud physics, focusing on how intermittency affects rainfall generation in warm cumulus clouds. Study of one of two intermittency effects: entrainment at the cloud edge or turbulence – droplet interactions. Research approaches include high-fidelity experiments (combined particle tracking velocimetry and particle image velocimetry) in a large wind tunnel at Imperial College London, or high-fidelity numerical simulations (direct numerical simulation, CFD). Up to two PhD studentships available. Part of an ERC project (TITCHY). Opportunities for professional development workshops and presentation at international conferences.
