Overview

Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society (NVS) at Karolinska Institutet. A PhD position in the electrophysiology laboratory at the Division of Neurogeriatrics, BioClinicum, Solna campus, Stockholm. The laboratory focuses on mechanisms affecting synaptic networks and cognitive decline in early neurodegenerative disease progression. The doctoral project aims to investigate the impact of microglia on neuronal function in early stages of neurodegenerative diseases, specifically Alzheimer’s disease, using ex vivo electrophysiology in combination with transcriptomic, morphological, and behavioral techniques in animal models and human brain tissue. The doctoral student will design and perform lab and animal experiments, draft manuscripts, contribute to lab routine duties, and participate in group meetings and conferences. The doctoral student will be employed on a doctoral studentship maximum 4 years full-time.
