Overview

The doctoral project aims to develop translational approaches to reveal novel mechanisms and biomarkers in peripheral vascular disease, comparing patients with carotid, cerebral and lower limb arterial disease./nThe PhD candidate will be recruited to the Translational Vascular Medicine group led by Assoc Prof Ljubica Matic at the Department of Molecular Medicine and Surgery, Karolinska Institutet (BioClinicum, KI North Campus), Stockholm, Sweden./nProject activities include bioinformatic analyses of human omics data, biostatistics and clinical data analyses, epidemiological data and outcome modelling using AI-assisted algorithms, multi-modal data integrations, and systematic, large-scale histopathological stainings of biobanked tissues. Experimental work in animal and cell culture models of vascular injury and disease may also be part of the project./nThe position is offered as a doctoral studentship with a contractual salary and a maximum duration of 4 years full-time. The environment includes access to human biobanks, imaging, animal surgery and molecular biology methods, and international and industrial collaborators.
