This is a joint doctoral project leading to a PhD degree awarded by both KU Leuven (BE) and Budapest University of Technology and Economics (HU). The research focuses on the development of novel implant types to avoid stress shielding in orthopaedic implants, including designing, analyzing and comparing orthopedic stem models with porous architectures (Voronoi, TPMS), developing computational FE models of humerus and stem, and experimental validation using micromotion measurements, DIC and/or Fiber Bragg Grating based measurements. The successful candidate will spend 18 months at each institution and the position is offered through the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Doctoral Network 'CUSTOM'. Location: Leuven (KU Leuven) and Budapest (BME), with research stays at Semmelweis University (HU) and TU Delft (NL).
