The research group Lab of Neurobiology at KU Leuven is looking for a motivated PhD student to conduct research for four years in the context of a multi-year research project between the ALS Center at UMCU Utrecht and KU Leuven. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team at KU Leuven and work closely with the ALS Center at UMCU Utrecht, as well as the ALS Liga (Belgium) and the ALS patient association in the Netherlands./nFor the first time, a wide range of biomarkers will be systematically and efficiently integrated and evaluated in the ALS research field – from cognition, to imaging, electrophysiology, digital technology, wet-lab markers in blood and cerebrospinal fluid. Based on this, an innovative biomarker platform will be rolled out that aims to increase the success rate of early-phase clinical studies and ultimately accelerate the development of an effective therapy for ALS./nLocation: Leuven, Belgium. Start date is expected in April 2026.
