PhD student position to collaborate in a large multicenter study (SERENA) to determine whether the GLP-1 agonist semaglutide (Ozempic) can prevent type 2 diabetes after a recent history of gestational diabetes. /nThe study is a collaboration between 13 Belgian centers and is ongoing with recruitment expected to be completed in mid-2026. Participants will be followed for a maximum of 3.5 years. The goal is to randomize 252 women with prediabetes 1/1 to Ozempic (semaglutide) or placebo; study visits every 6 months alternating between fasting blood tests and a 75g oral glucose tolerance test. /nThe position is based at the Endocrinology Department at University Hospitals Leuven (KU Leuven) in Leuven, Belgium. Tasks include assisting with clinical research, administering questionnaires, collecting blood samples, database management, coordination of other Belgian centers, and contributing to an IPD meta-analysis on glucose sensors in gestational diabetes.
