The research group ‘Adapted Physical Activity and Psychomotor Rehabilitation’ is recruiting a new doctoral researcher for a study on physical activity among individuals with intellectual disabilities. This research group, part of the Faculty of Movement and Rehabilitation Sciences at KU Leuven, investigates human functioning from a holistic perspective. The focus within the ‘adapted physical activity’ unit lies, on the one hand, on health-enhancing physical activity for individuals with developmental disorders or long-term disabilities, and on the other hand, in exploring the relationship between cognition and motor development across the continuum from rehabilitation to elite sport. The research project is a close collaboration with the research group Parenting and Special Education (Prof. Sara Nijs) and the University of Limerick (Prof. Sean Healy). The study will be conducted within the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences (KU Leuven).
