PhD position within the project LangPro funded for 2026-2031 by the European Research Council, directed by dr. Alisa van de Haar (university lecturer in historical French literature at Leiden University). Prof. Nadine Akkerman will be co-supervisor./nThe LangPro project examines the notion of the language sector in early modern North-West Europe and will develop a prosopographical database to study early modern language professionals between 1550 and 1650./nPhD position: Women in the Early Modern Language Sector. The PhD candidate will conduct a collective analysis of a selection of early modern female language professionals from England, the Low Countries, France, and the German lands, and will collaborate with team members to build a database on early modern language professionals./nLocation: Leiden. Start date: 1 August 2026. Initial 14-month contract with extension for following 34 months on condition of a positive evaluation. 1.0 FTE (38 hrs per week) or 0.8 FTE for 5 years.
