Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated PhD researcher to develop innovative technologies that improve sustainability in the food industry. The project investigates fusion of data streams from ultraviolet (UV) fluorescence imaging and in-line water quality sensors to support Clean-in-Place (CIP) practices, aiming to reduce cleaning times, save energy, and maximise water reuse. Key objectives include: (1) developing high-quality optical fouling detection; (2) determining water soil levels using existing sensors correlated with standard water quality measures; and (3) creating decision-support tools for cleaning and water management. Location: Loughborough.
