PhD in Automotive

Understanding tyre–road surface contact is critical to achieving desired vehicle performance. Friction is a complex property, unique to each system, and challenging to measure and model. To explore the relationship between tyre operating conditions and friction behaviour, new characterisation and analysis techniques are required. This PhD research will combine fundamental engineering science with advanced experimentation to develop methods that inform and validate next-generation tyre friction models.
