Soft devices, comprised of materials and structures which are compliant, deformable and stretchable, promise revolutionary solutions in automation, healthcare and wearables. /nThe project aims to develop fabrication technologies to address current shortcomings, enabling the next generation of soft devices at scale through investigation, experimentation, and development of an emerging technology, the micro plasma jet, and through its deployment to manufacture novel functional demonstrators. /nSupervised by Prof. Russell Harris and Dr. Luke Tinsley within a research team of PhD and post-doctoral researchers in a newly refurbished 150m2 laboratory in Manchester. /nAim: Enable the next generation of soft devices through the development of micro atmospheric plasma treatment technologies and processes. /nExpected start date: October 2026.
