Overview
The PhD research project is part of the new Norwegian Maritime AI Centre, led by NTNU./nThe objective of this PhD project is to develop AI methodologies for the analysis part of condition monitoring (CM) and predictive maintenance (PM)./nThe primary challenge in predictive maintenance lies in accurately determining the point at which maintenance intervention becomes necessary, commonly expressed in terms of the remaining useful life (RUL) of a component or system./nThe estimation of RUL can be conceptualized as a specialized form of anomaly detection: identify anomalies that evolve gradually and forecast the time-to-failure. The doctoral research aims to integrate state-of-the-art advancements in condition monitoring and predictive maintenance with emerging methodologies in artificial intelligence and adapt these approaches for application within the maritime domain.
