Overview

NTNU is a broad-based university with a technical-scientific profile and a focus in professional education. The university is located in three cities with headquarters in Trondheim./nThe Department of Electric Energy (IEL) at NTNU is seeking a highly motivated candidate for a full-time (100%) PhD position for 3 years as part of the project “NEMEGIS”. You will join the research group High Voltage Technology (HVT) at IEL./nOne PhD position with a focus on Partial discharge ageing and memory effects in new gases is available. Main research questions include how AC and LI PD properties change over time for relevant defects in new gas mixtures; applicability of knowledge from SF6 to new gases; effects of gas decomposition products such as ozone and CO on PD behaviour; and whether experimentally observed PD properties, decomposition products and memory and ageing effects can be explained using known theory and computational models./nMain supervisor: Professor Frank Mauseth; Co-supervisors: Nina Støa-Aanensen and Hans Krisitan Meyer./nWork environment features: professional meetings within the research group, weekly colloquia, shared lunches, and “Friday coffee” sessions. PhD candidates also organize social activities.
