Overview

Studies of phase formation, evolution of microstructure and casting defects in high-pressure die casting of recycled aluminium alloys. /nThe position is a 3-year doctoral research fellowship starting in the autumn of 2026. The PhD candidate will be embedded in the solidification research activities of SFI FAST, working in close collaboration with project partners from NTNU and SINTEF, and with leading Norwegian and international industrial partners in the aluminium value chain. /nThe PhD candidate will use advanced experimental techniques to study the formation and evolution of solidification microstructures and defects in high-pressure die-cast products, made from aluminium alloys containing a considerable fraction of post-consumer scrap.
