PhD in Biological Sciences

Rapid climate change is accelerating soil salinisation and episodic drought, undermining crop productivity, soil function and food security. This PhD explores the resilience and metabolic adaptation of extremophilic archaea, using Haloferax mediterranei as a model. The project will integrate systems analysis with Haloferax genetics and enzyme biochemistry to investigate mechanisms that enable survival under abiotic stress conditions.
