Location: Belfast - Northern Ireland/nThis project investigates how carefully selected trace elements and their interactions can significantly enhance the microstructure, strength, wear resistance, and overall performance of commercially critical ZA-bearing alloys. By closely examining solidification processes, you'll reveal novel methods to optimize alloy properties for superior bearing applications./nThe research will establish a foundational understanding of three high-strength ZA alloys to validate them for bearing applications. Techniques to be used include Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Optical Microscopy, thermal analysis, and comprehensive mechanical testing./nThis PhD equips you with specialized expertise for automotive, aerospace, bearing manufacturing, and materials industries and includes collaborations with industry partners.
