PhD in Robotics

Robots working together and with humans bring new challenges to roboticists and control engineers, the most important of which is safety while maintaining performance; By removing the robots from (virtual) cages, the task in hand is to guarantee a safe, collision-free operation. Robots must perform tasks autonomously and safely. This autonomous operation however should not compromise performance and lead to trivial solutions where, for example, a robot stops when it detects a motion in sight. This project aims to propose new, provably safe planning and control algorithms in robotics with an emphasis in fast implementation. The project is split between theory and implementation; we are going to avail of the multitude of mobile robots and robotic manipulators set up in our robotics lab.
