FAQs

  • There are doctoral courses in research design, organizations and institutions, advanced qualitative methods, advanced quantitative methods, and courses relating to theory, politics, economy, and societal organisation. Many courses are offered in English, and students from other institutions can often take them.
  • You should submit proof of completed higher education credentials, transcripts, certificates, a research proposal or outline, sometimes previous publications or thesis work, and reference letters. The appraisers review academic performance, research proposal quality, and your fit to the subject/research environment.
  • Positions are commonly advertised once a year. The application period is usually in mid-January to mid-February. The advertised doctoral positions begin on 1 September. Occasionally other calls appear outside this schedule.
  • Applicants need a master’s degree or its equivalent. They should have completed coursework amounting to around 240 credits (with a certain portion at second-cycle level), or have equivalent qualifications.
  • They offer doctoral education in areas including “Politics, Economy and the Organisation of Society” (which covers social sciences like sociology, public administration, welfare, and governance), and Public Health Sciences through collaboration. Multidisciplinary research is supported.
