The Department of Astronomy at Stockholm University has about 80 employees, of which 25 are PhD students./nUp to six positions will be available in the areas of Stars, Exoplanets, Supernovae/Computational Astrophysics, Galaxies, and Cosmology./nLocations: Stockholm, Stockholms län, Sweden./nThe PhD positions include projects in stellar spectroscopy (development of a 3D non-LTE spectral analysis pipeline and scientific applications), exoplanet characterisation and atmospheric studies (development and application of analytical tools to space-based and ground-based observational data), high performance computer simulations of core-collapse supernovae (focus on extreme progenitors and magnetorotational driven explosions, part of ERC project COMPACTARS), galaxy studies (star cluster formation and feedback using JWST imaging and spectroscopy and ground-based observations), and cosmology within the ERC Synergy Grant COSMOMAG (studying the very first microseconds of the universe, magnetic field generation, numerical evolution and prediction of observable signatures).
