Overview

Seagrasses are vital foundation species in coastal ecosystems, providing essential services such as carbon sequestration, biodiversity support, sediment stabilisation, and shoreline protection. This project focuses on an underexplored ally of seagrasses: their microbiome. It will take an interdisciplinary approach combining microbiology, molecular biology, bioinformatics, and marine ecology. Expected outcomes include deeper insight into seagrass–microbe interactions and proof-of-concept demonstrations of microbiome engineering for marine plant systems.
