Overview
The section for Computational Atomic-scale Materials Design (CAMD) at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) is offering a PhD position focused on ab initio many-body theory with applications to excitons in complex 2D van der Waals materials. The position is funded via a EuroTech Alliance Stipend and involves collaborations with the experimental group of Andras Kis at EPFL./nResponsibilities include developing and applying ab initio computational methods rooted in many-body (perturbation) theory to explore exciton dynamics, exciton transport and exciton-exciton interactions in atomically thin 2D van der Waals materials (moiré and heterostructures). Candidates may also be involved in developing a digital data infrastructure for 2D materials and performing high-throughput electronic structure computations using the Python-based TaskBlaster framework./nThe group (CAMD) is part of DTU Physics located in the northern Copenhagen area and develops the GPAW electronic structure code, the ASE Python library, and the TaskBlaster workflow framework. Substantial computational resources are available through the DTU-supercomputer facility Niflheim./nThe period of employment is 3 years and the work must be carried out at DTU.
