Overview
DTU Space at the Technical University of Denmark invites applications for a PhD position within the field of galaxy formation. The position is part of a dedicated research project “PRIMORDIAL: Charting Cosmic Dawn from primordial matter to the formation of stars in galaxies” funded by the Independent Research Fund Denmark (DFF). This position is offered as part of Associate Professor Kasper Heintz’ group to work on observational projects on star and galaxy formation in the early Universe with cutting-edge data from JWST and ALMA. Applicants with interests and potential experience within any of galaxy formation, Lyman-alpha absorption, ISM/CGM evolution, and spectroscopic data analysis are strongly encouraged to apply./nYour overall focus will be to work on new data taken with JWST and ALMA of very high-redshift galaxies, and work independently on analyzing and interpreting their properties, in close collaboration with Kasper Heintz. You will work with local colleagues and be embedded into large international collaborations. You are expected to teach and take course appropriate for the graduate level at DTU./nThe starting date is 1 July 2026 or according to mutual agreement. The position is a full-time position. The period of employment is 3 years. The scholarship for the PhD degree is subject to academic approval, and the candidate will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes at DTU. Location: DTU Space, Lyngby Campus, greater Copenhagen area, Denmark.
