PhD in Experimental Particle Physics

Application deadline: 31/01/2026/nThis 3.5-year PhD studentship in Experimental Particle Physics at the University of Manchester (Manchester, UK). The position is open to Home (UK) and overseas students. The successful candidate will receive an annual tax-free stipend set at the UKRI rate (£20,780 for 2025/26; subject to annual uplift) and tuition fees will be paid. Most studentships are expected to start in October 2025, with options for early or delayed start subject to funding. Research takes place within large international collaborations across energy frontier, quark flavour, lepton flavour, neutrino physics, the dark sector, detector technologies and data acquisition; students will have access to local distributed computing facilities and may spend around one year fully-funded at experimental sites (e.g., CERN, Fermilab).
