Overview
A fully funded PhD studentship in the Department of Chemistry, University of Manchester to study metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and their applications via EPR. Location: Manchester. Start date: 21 September 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. Supervisors: Dr Floriana Tuna (main), Co-supervisors: Dr Yujie Ma, Prof Sihai Yang. Funding covers home tuition fees and a tax-free stipend starting at UKRI rate of £21,805 per annum (2026-2027), increasing each year, covered for up to 3.5 years. International applications are welcomed. The project offers training in EPR, NMR, XRD, XPS, TEM and access to the EPSRC UK National Facility for EPR spectroscopy. The student will undertake sorption studies and examine MOF reactivity against ammonia and nitrogen oxides using EPR, and gain career development and science communication experience.
