- Students may write either a monograph or a compilation thesis consisting of scientific articles with a summarising introduction. A public defence (disputation) is mandatory.
- Graduates often pursue careers in academia, clinical and public health research, healthcare management, international health organisations, policy-making institutions, and NGOs.
- Doctoral students complete compulsory and elective courses in research methods, biostatistics, epidemiology, ethics, and subject-specific fields. They also participate in seminars, workshops, and international collaborations.
- Applicants must hold a second-cycle (master’s) degree or equivalent, comprising at least 240 ECTS credits with 60 at the advanced level, in public health, medicine, health sciences, or a related field. Demonstrated research training and methodological skills are required.
- Research spans public health, epidemiology, global health, health equity, ageing, occupational and environmental health, health promotion, clinical medicine, and healthcare organisation. Interdisciplinary and management-related topics are also possible.
- The programme normally requires 4 years of full-time study (240 ECTS), but it can take longer if studied part-time.
