We are looking for a motivated PhD candidate to perform state-of-the-art atomic physics experiments and develop quantum technology as part of the QG&QI group at the University of Amsterdam. The project focuses on continuous cold and ultracold atom interferometry, building a compact rotation sensor using a rubidium atomic beam generated by a 2D-MOT (mean velocities around 20 m/s) with interferometer baselines on the order of 20 cm. The work includes Raman-based beam splitting, large momentum transfer techniques, characterization of sensor performance (sensitivity, scale factor, stability), exploration of advanced quantum control protocols, and long-term integration of a continuous atom laser. The position is embedded in the Quantum Delta NL Ultracold Atom Quantum Sensing Testbed and is located in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
