Overview

There is a vacancy for a PhD Research Fellow in in marine biogeochemistry at the Geophysical Institute and the Bjerknes Centre for Climate Research. The position is for a fixed-term period of 3 years with the possibility of a 4th year with career-promoting work (e.g. teaching at the Department). The position funded by the University of Bergen./nThe Arctic and North Atlantic are key regions for air–sea CO₂ exchange and marine productivity. The appointed PhD candidate will investigate how carbon and nutrient signals propagate between these two basins and how these exchanges influence their biogeochemical functioning across timescales ranging from months to centennial. The project will further examine how these processes are linked to climate variability and long-term climate change./nThe PhD candidate will utilize most recent climate and ocean model simulations in combination with observational data. There is, in addition, a possibility for the PhD student to design and perform targeted modelling experiments./nLocation: Bergen, Vestland (Allégaten 70, 5020).
