PhD in Chronometric Levelling

Chronometric levelling at cm precision is an important application for optical clocks, requiring their relative frequency inaccuracies at the level of 1x10-18./nOptical clocks, particularly transportable setups, have the potential to overcome conventional geodetic limitations and allow direct clock comparison to demonstrate chronometric levelling./nThe project will also take advantage of fibre link connections between UK-EU continental optical clocks./nAs a PhD student, you will be joining a team of PostDocs and PhDs with state-of-art research facilities in Birmingham.
