PhD in Environmental Science

Indonesia is among the most exposed regions globally to volcanic hazards. This project will address these challenges by advancing knowledge of tsunami-generating processes and past events at high-risk sites through targeted fieldwork, combining insights from historical events with analyses to evaluate exposure to volcanic tsunamis nationally, and working with hazard management agencies to understand current volcanic and tsunami monitoring procedures. This approach aims to bridge the gap between research studies and how these outputs support volcanic-tsunami monitoring and hazard management plans in Indonesia. The project focuses on developing guidance for effective volcanic-tsunami risk evaluations in other vulnerable parts of the world.
